Lydia Kisley

Lydia graduated from the Landes lab in 2015 and is now doing postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne. She is from Mentor, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.  She received her Bachelor's Degree from Wittenberg University  in Springfield, Ohio with major in Chemistry and minor in Physics.     Here at Rice, her research focused on single molecule spectroscopy of ion-exchange chromatography surfaces.     By understanding chromatography, a crucial purification step in pharmaceuticals, at the molecular level, more efficient techniques, and thus faster and more economical drug development and production, will result.     She used wide field microscopy and particle tracking for data collection and analysis.     In addition, she worked on building two-color and polarization capabilities for the wide field instrument, with the possibilities of including FRET or rotational analysis in her studies.  She is also the Outreach Coordinator for Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology.     In her free time she enjoys coffee, following Cleveland sports, and running.
