Sean is a Carl and Lillian Illig Postdoctoral Fellow at Rice University, Houston, Texas. He graduated from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Science and Technology (honours) in Advanced Materials in 2010. Here he completed a research project under the supervision of Prof. Richard Tilley on solution-phase synthesis of inorganic fullerenes. In the summer months Sean worked on projects at the Australian National University and the University of Canterbury. He then completed a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Paul Mulvaney. He joined A.Prof. Christy Landes' research group and the Smalley-Curl Institute at Rice University in January, 2017. His research has focused on developing microscopic optical techniques for studying electrochemical and catalytic processes on single metal nanocrystals.
