Research Areas

Quantifying heterogeneous structure-function relationships one molecule at a time presents challenges for theory, experiment, and data analysis. We must develop new methods to collect, process, and understand super-resolved spectroscopic data to respond to the challenges of today's scientific problems. As such, our research focuses on three linked objectives:

  • Develop new spectroscopic data acquisition and analysis methods to image dynamics at nanoscale interfaces
  • Define testable hypotheses for protein separations by combining super-resolved protein adsorption and a stochastic theory of ion-exchange chromatography
  • Design methods to control photocatalysis at nanoparticle interfaces with the ultimate goal of controlling single electron transfer
